Job summary

Barnhouse Consulting Limited is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day freight and transport operations in Oamaru. The role is full-time with guaranteed 40 hours per week and offers hourly remuneration between $40 and $50 based on experience.

Responsibilities include planning daily operations, coordinating schedules, monitoring performance and fleet maintenance, and ensuring safe, efficient freight delivery.

Qualifications

• A relevant Diploma or higher qualification preferred but not essential.
• At least three years of industry experience.
• Clean NZ drivers licence.
• Knowledge of commercial transport and freight operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and oversee daily freight and transport operations.
• Develop transport schedules and allocate vehicles and drivers.
• Monitor transport activities and handle delays, breakdowns and changing requirements.
• Oversee fleet utilisation and vehicle availability.
• Coordinate vehicle servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs.
• Monitor vehicle condition, fuel consumption and operating performance.
• Review fleet utilisation and identify efficiency improvements.
• Maintain transport, driver and fleet records.
• Prepare operational reports on delivery performance, fleet utilisation, maintenance, incidents and costs.
• Recommend practical improvements to transport operations.
