Job summary

Tradestaff is recruiting a skilled Fitter-Welder to join our Canterbury team. You will work on fabrication and installation projects across industrial settings, fabricating components, welding and assembling structures, and reading engineering drawings.

Some roles may involve shift work; long‑term opportunities and steady hours are available. The role requires at least 3 years of experience (or NZQF Level 4), strong MIG and stick welding skills, and the ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience or NZQF Level 4 qualification (or comparable).
• Strong MIG and stick welding skills; TIG is a bonus.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings.
• Must be reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious.
• Own tools and reliable transport required.
• Two recent work references; pass pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, and install metal components and structures.
• Read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings.
• MIG and stick welding; TIG experience is a bonus.
• Use cutting, grinding and forming tools for fabrication tasks.
• Site installation work and health & safety compliance.
