Job summary

Tradestaff Tauranga is seeking experienced fitters to work across industrial, manufacturing, maintenance and engineering projects throughout Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty. You will carry out general fitting, installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and components, reading drawings, using hand and power tools, and ensuring safety.

Immediate start, full-time hours, weekly pay, and opportunities for long-term roles with ongoing support from the Tradestaff Tauranga team.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on fitting/engineering/maintenance experience.
• Trade qualification preferred or demonstrable practical fitting experience.
• Able to read/interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Own basic tools and reliable transport.
• Committed to health and safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and repair machinery and components.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble components.
• Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance.
• Read engineering drawings and technical plans.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and modifications.
• Work safely with hand and power tools.

Tradestaff Tauranga is looking for experienced Fitters to work across a variety of industrial, manufacturing, maintenance and engineering projects throughout Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.

Pay Rate: $38–$44 per hour, depending on experience
Start Date: Immediate starts available

About the Role

You'll be working across a range of industrial and engineering environments, carrying out general fitting, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair work on machinery, equipment and components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble, install, maintain and repair machinery, equipment and components.
• Carry out general fitting, adjustments and repairs as required.
• Diagnose faults and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble components and equipment.
• Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance where required.
• Measure, cut, drill, grind and fit components to specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical plans and specifications.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and modifications.
• Use hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain a safe and organised working environment while following health and safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Proven hands-on experience in a fitting, engineering or maintenance role.
• Relevant trade qualification preferred, or demonstrated practical fitting experience.
• Strong practical skills in assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing equipment.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Confidence using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience with welding, fabrication or machining would be advantageous.
• Own basic tools and reliable transport.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Two recent contactable work references.
