Job summary

Alpine Energy seeks an experienced Financial Planning & Reporting Manager to lead budgeting, forecasting, long‑term planning and reporting across the organisation. Based in Timaru, you will partner with senior stakeholders and drive commercial insights to support strategic decisions.

You’ll manage a small team, oversee treasury activities and asset reporting, and champion governance and regulatory compliance while shaping the organisation’s financial future.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA or equivalent professional qualification required or in progress.
• 7+ years of finance experience in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis.
• Strong financial modelling, scenario analysis and investment appraisal skills.
• Proven business partnering experience and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of management reporting, capital/operating expenditure and governance.
• Demonstrated people leadership and development capability.
• Advanced Excel and ERP/reporting/data visualisation tools experience.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Planning & Reporting Manager to lead financial planning, forecasting, reporting and commercial analysis across our organisation. This newly created opportunity combines strong technical finance expertise with strategic thinking and business partnering to help drive performance, support investment decisions and create long‑term value. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll lead a small capable team and work closely with senior leaders and operational stakeholders, translating complex financial information into meaningful insights that support better decisions.

About the role

Based in Timaru this is a broad, commercially focused leadership role where your work will directly support organisational performance and long‑term planning.

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and long‑term financial planning.
• Provide commercial insights, scenario analysis and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision‑making.
• Partner with business leaders to evaluate investment proposals, business cases, projects and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee management reporting, financial performance analysis, capital and operating expenditure, and project monitoring.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, treasury reporting and banking activities.
• Ensure the integrity of fixed asset reporting, financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Oversee regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
• Lead, coach and develop your team, fostering a collaborative, accountable and high‑performing culture.

You'll bring:

• A CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification, or be working towards one.
• Approximately seven or more years of relevant finance experience across financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis.
• Strong financial modelling, scenario analysis, investment appraisal and business case evaluation skills.
• Proven business partnering experience and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Sound knowledge of management reporting, capital and operating expenditure, fixed assets, financial controls and governance.
• Demonstrated people leadership, coaching and development capability.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in ERP systems and reporting or data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and continuous improvement skills.

Experience in electricity, utilities, infrastructure or another regulated or asset‑intensive environment, including regulatory reporting, would be an advantage.
