Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations in a fully remote capacity, supporting strategic initiatives. The role requires overseeing accounting, reporting, compliance and internal controls with a strong focus on remote leadership from a home office.

The candidate will drive monthly/quarterly/annual statements, budgeting and forecasting, and will manage auditors and tax advisors while mentoring the finance team.

Qualifications

• CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 8 years in accounting/finance with 3+ years in controller or senior role.
• Expertise in IFRS, GAAP and internal controls.
• Proven experience leading remote teams.

About the Role

This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. You will work autonomously from your home office, driving financial discipline and providing critical insights to executive leadership. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS .
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems and policies.
• Oversee the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar senior role.
• Expertise in financial reporting, GAAP /IFRS , and internal controls.
• Proven experience managing remote teams and operations.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
