Job summary

MADE New Zealand, home to The Collective, Moogurt, Rokeby and Cocobella, is seeking a Financial Accountant to own reporting, controls and compliance, while partnering with manufacturing and warehouse leaders to turn data into practical insights that improve performance and support better decision-making.

You’ll bring a CA/CPA qualification, Big 4 plus commercial accounting experience, and SAP expertise to help drive a transformation within a values-led, growing business.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification required.
• Big 4 background with 2-3 years in commercial accounting.
• Strong reporting experience: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow.
• ERP/SAP experience and system improvement mindset.
• Ability to turn numbers into practical insights and influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and year-end close processes and reporting.
• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and operational reports.
• Maintain reconciliations and strong financial controls.
• Partner with manufacturing and warehouse teams to understand drivers.
• Analyze variances across production, labour, overhead, logistics and inventory.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, capex and investment decisions.
• Coordinate tax compliance including GST, income tax, PAYE, ACC and FBT.
• Lead annual statutory financial statements and external audits.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, inventory, fixed assets and general accounting.
• Act as SAP lead and drive system/process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and working capital.

Due to their current Financial Accountant heading overseas, we are now looking for someone to take ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance, while playing a key role in supporting operational performance.

This is more than a traditional reporting role. You’ll work closely with manufacturing and warehouse leaders, turning financial and operational data into practical insights that help improve performance, strengthen processes and support better decision‑making.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead monthly and year‑end close processes and ensure accurate, timely reporting
• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and operational reporting
• Maintain strong balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
• Partner with manufacturing and warehouse teams to understand performance drivers
• Analyse production, labour, overhead, logistics and inventory variances
• Support budgeting, forecasting, capex and investment decisions
• Coordinate tax compliance including GST, income tax, PAYE, ACC and FBT
• Lead annual statutory financial statement preparation and support external audits
• Provide oversight across AP, AR, payroll, inventory, fixed assets and general accounting
• Act as a key SAP business lead and support system and process improvements
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, automation and working capital

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a confident Financial Accountant who combines strong technical accounting capability with a commercial mindset. You’ll enjoy getting beyond the numbers, building relationships across the business and helping operational teams understand what is driving performance.

• A CA / CPA qualification
• Experience working in the Big 4 with an additional 2-3 years of commercial experience in a financial accounting or reporting roles.
• Extensive experience in preparing P&L, Balance Sheet & Cash Flow Statements.
• Strong financial reporting, month‑end and year‑end accounting experience
• Sound knowledge of statutory reporting, controls and tax compliance
• Experience partnering with operational stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn numbers into useful insights
• Experience working with ERP systems, (SAP experience highly valuable)
• A continuous improvement mindset and confidence challenging existing processes - have curiosity and energy to streamline financial processes and implement best practices.
• The ability to collaborate effectively across departments and manage cross‑functional relationships
