Hauraki District Council is looking for an experienced finance professional to take a key leadership role within its Finance & Risk team. In this role you will have genuine influence, lead a capable team and get to stay close to the numbers.
Reporting to the Head of Finance & Risk, you'll lead a team covering accounting, payroll, financial and asset accounting, while taking ownership of financial reporting, systems, controls and compliance.
The role
This is a broad role that will suit someone who enjoys more than simply producing the numbers.You'll be the person making sure the Council's financial systems, reporting and accounting processes are working as they should, and looking for ways to make them better.
You'll have responsibility for annual and statutory accounts, audit engagement, fixed assets and valuations, financial controls and policies, as well as providing sound financial advice across the organisation. You'll also be involved in procurement policy and risk management.
Just as importantly, you'll lead and develop the finance team, helping people grow while ensuring the organisation receives a consistently high level of service.
Key Responsibilities
What we're looking for
You’ll be a qualified accountant who has built solid experience across annual and statutory financial reporting, systems and accounting operations, in large organisations ideally local government or another complex public‑sector environment.
