Job summary

Merck in New Zealand is seeking a Territory Sales Manager to cover Waikato and surrounding areas. This permanent, full-time field-based role offers competitive remuneration, benefits, and tools of trade including company car, laptop and iPad.

Qualifications

• Proven rural sales experience with a track record of achieving sales results.
• Experience selling to dairy farmers is highly desirable.
• Experience in training or supporting farm staff is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical ideas to varied audiences.
• Excellent customer service and ability to understand customer needs.
• Strong influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities across a territory.
• Technical aptitude with electronics, mechanical concepts and complex software systems.
• High computer literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Knowledge of dairy sheds, animal behaviour and on-farm networking is advantageous.
• Strong relationship management and customer-first mindset.
• Full NZ driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Achieve agreed sales targets and activity levels across territory.
• Develop and review territory plans to maximise sales performance.
• Identify and support key accounts with Regional Technology Lead.
• Use CRM data and market intelligence to support territory planning and sales effectiveness.
• Monitor competitor activity and provide timely feedback within the territory.
• Build strong relationships with farmers, dealers, veterinarians and farm managers.
• Deliver product and sales training to distributors and partners.
• Present professional sales demonstrations to customers and industry groups.
• Support promotions to maximise business performance.
• Collaborate across sales, technical, marketing and after-sales teams.
