Job summary

Employme Solutions in New Zealand is partnering with a Nelson-based heavy diesel provider to recruit a Diesel Mechanic / Field Service Technician. You’ll diagnose, service, and repair heavy diesel machinery on-site and in the workshop, with emphasis on uptime and quality.

You’ll work across the Nelson/Tasman region with a fully equipped service vehicle, handling breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics using advanced tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience working with heavy diesel, trucks, construction, or agricultural machinery.
• Level 4 trade qualification in Heavy Automotive (or similar).
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrics, and diagnostic systems.
• Confident working both in the workshop and out in the field.
• NZ driver’s licence and a positive, can-do mindset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy diesel machinery and equipment.
• Handling on-site breakdowns and workshop maintenance with emphasis on uptime.
• Managing field service work across the Nelson/Tasman region with a fully outfitted service vehicle.
• Using diagnostic tools and technical expertise to minimise downtime.
• Working with a supportive team that values accuracy and professionalism.

You’ll Succeed Here If You:

• Bring 5+ years’ experience working with heavy diesel, trucks, construction, or agricultural machinery
• Hold a Level 4 trade qualification in Heavy Automotive (or similar)
