Job summary

Powercor is seeking an experienced Field HSE Advisor to join our HSE project delivery team on the Leeston Solar Farm Project in Leeston, New Zealand. This is a hands-on, site-based, full-time permanent role.

You will coordinate and implement project-specific HSE systems, lead inspections and incident investigations, coach workers and contractors, monitor performance, and support compliance with NZ health, safety and environmental legislation across construction activities.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Health & Safety (NZ Certificate Level 4 or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years site-based HSE experience in construction/civil/utilities or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of NZ health, safety and environmental legislation
• Experience applying practical HSE systems and controls within operational construction environments
• Skilled at building relationships, influencing stakeholders and driving positive safety behaviours
• Confident communicator with the ability to deliver engaging training, inductions and presentations
• Strong problem-solving and investigation skills, including incident investigations and risk management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to communicate technical HSE information clearly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline HSE leadership and coaching to workers, contractors and project teams
• Implement and maintain project HSE management plans, site safety plans and safe work procedures
• Lead site inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective actions
• Monitor HSE performance, identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Review risk assessments, permits and controls for high-risk construction activities
• Support inductions, toolbox talks, pre-starts and HSE committee participation
• Monitor contractor compliance and advise supervisors and project leaders
• Implement and monitor EMP, ESCP and other plans for the project
• Support compliance tracking of project resource consents and liaison with authorities
• Implement waste minimisation strategies and coordinate with waste management contractors
• Support ESG reporting requirements as per contractual requirements
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, environmental controls and project HSE reporting
