Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in Christchurch is seeking an Allied Support Worker for a full-time fixed-term role to support social workers. You will assist with home visits, admin tasks, and transporting tamariki and rangatahi under supervision.

A driving licence is essential and you will work within a dedicated team at the Christchurch West Site. Key responsibilities include entering case notes, coordinating admin for Family Group Conferences, and helping with school-related support

Qualifications

• Studying towards relevant tertiary qualifications.
• Clean, current full driver’s licence essential.
• Ability to drive ministry vehicles (historic convictions considered case-by-case).

Responsibilities

• Provide support across a site on an on-demand basis.
• Assist social workers to enter case notes and information into CYRAS and other information systems.
• Safely transport children and young people to appointments, school and activities as directed.
• Support Family Group Conferences preparation and admin tasks.
• Support tamariki and rangatahi in care and during placement transitions.
• Arrange administrative tasks for children in placement under supervision.
• Support children at schools during settling in and returns from absences.
• Conduct supervised visits by driving clients and supervising contacts (some weekends/after hours).
• Foster cooperative work with internal colleagues and external partners.
