Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand in Invercargill is seeking a Fabricator/Welder to join our workshop team. You’ll perform TIG welding and light fabrication across varied projects, with a strong emphasis on quality workmanship. Immediate start available with weekly pay and a competitive hourly rate.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, cutting, bending and forming metal, and setting up equipment. The role offers ongoing opportunities for skilled welders in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

• Proven TIG welding experience, with MIG and ARC capability.
• Able to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Experience with stainless steel, alloy or heavy fabrication.
• Own tools is a bonus.

Fabricator/Welder

Location: Invercargill

Start date: ASAP

Pay rate: $32–$34 per hour depending on experience – paid weekly

About the role

You’ll be working across varied fabrication projects, with TIG welding and light fabrication forming a key part of the role.

• Carry out TIG, MIG and ARC welding, with a strong focus on quality TIG work
• Complete light fabrication of metal components and structures
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints and specifications
• Cut, shape, bend and form metal to required specifications
• Set up and operate welding and metalworking equipment
• Prepare, assemble and fit fabricated components
• Inspect completed welds and finished work for quality while following all safety procedures

What we’re looking for

• Proven TIG welding experience, along with MIG and ARC capability
• Strong experience and confidence with light fabrication work
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
• Experience with stainless steel, alloy and/or heavy fabrication
• Confidence using fabrication tools and workshop equipment
• Strong attention to quality and workplace safety
• Reliable transport; being Invercargill-based is ideal, and having your own tools is a bonus
