Job summary

Inverell Workshop in Inverell, NSW, is seeking an experienced fabricator/welder for a mix of bespoke workshop fabrication and occasional on-site work. You will read and work from drawings, take initiative, and deliver quality without close supervision.

Qualifications

The Role

You will be working as an experienced fabricator in a family-owned workshop in Inverell, NSW, across a mix of bespoke workshop fabrication and occasional on-site work when customers cannot transport equipment. The work spans light to heavy fabrication across a range of specialised and varied scopes. You need to be able to work from drawings and without drawings, take initiative, and deliver quality without being managed step by step.

Day to day you will be:

• Fabricating and welding across vacuum trucks, Rock Tamers, crane grillages, and other crane apparatus
• Carrying out modification and repair work across a broad range of transport, construction, and domestic client equipment
• Welding across stainless steel and aluminium as well as mild steel across varied fabrication scopes
• Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and working from verbal instructions where drawings are not available
• Carrying out occasional on-site welding and fabrication when required at customer locations
• Taking ownership of your work and maintaining quality without close supervision

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 6am to 4:30pm with a 3:30pm Friday finish. Optional Saturday mornings from 7am to 11am are available for those who want extra hours. What We Need

• Certificate III in Fabrication or equivalent NZ trade qualification, non-negotiable
• Demonstrated experience across light to heavy fabrication including bespoke and varied work, production-only backgrounds will not suit
• Stainless steel and aluminium welding capability, treat this as near-essential given the work mix
• Ability to work from drawings and without drawings, independently and under your own initiative
• Current driver's licence, essential
• Forklift licence advantageous; HR licence and dogman or mobile crane ticket also advantageous
• Positive, proactive, front-foot attitude and an old-school work ethic, the client's non-negotiable above almost everything else
