Job summary

Collective Dental is seeking an experienced Vehicle Painter to join our Christchurch workshop. You will prepare and refinish repaired vehicles, aiming for a factory-quality finish while meeting target times.

The role requires at least 3 years in collision repair or automotive refinishing, strong colour matching and spray equipment skills, and a commitment to health and safety. Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with a pay rate of NZD 30–35 per hour.

Qualifications

• Min 3 years in collision repair or automotive refinishing.
• Proficient in colour matching and using spray equipment and related tools.
• Able to meet target times with minimal supervision.
• Understand health and safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles arriving to ensure repairs are complete and surfaces ready.
• Prepare surfaces: sanding, cleaning, degreasing, minor cosmetic repairs.
• Mask and protect undamaged areas and trims.
• Apply primers, sealers and anti-corrosion treatments as specified.
• Identify paint codes, mix and tint, colour match using test panels.
• Apply base coats, clear coats and top coats in spray booth.
• Operate spray booths and drying equipment to keep jobs moving.
• De-nib, cut, buff and polish finished surfaces.
• Read job sheets and research supplier manuals and data.
• Record time against job numbers and label leftovers.
• Identify hidden damage and report to supervisor.
• Clean and maintain spray equipment and work area.
• Follow health and safety procedures.
• Assist with training apprentices when requested.
