Job summary

Access Community Health is seeking an Experienced Support Worker for Port Chalmers to help provide person-centred home support across the community. You will assist clients with daily living tasks, mobility, medication, and safety within their homes, while respecting culture, beliefs, routines and boundaries.

The role offers flexible hours to fit study or family commitments, with a noted pay range of $24.33-$30.27 per hour plus weekend allowances and a clear career pathway for Kaiāwhina/Support

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or otherpeople-facingroles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Full/restricted driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support in people’s homes
  • Support daily living activities including Palliative care, bowel care, dementia, mental health, and medication
  • Work with clients to respect culture, values, beliefs, routines and boundaries
  • Assist with mobility and transfer using appropriate equipment where needed
