Job summary

Access is seeking skilled and compassionate Support Workers to provide safe, person-centred care in people’s homes in New Zealand. You’ll support daily living, including palliative care, bowel care, dementia, mental health, and medication, while respecting culture, values, routines, and boundaries.

Training is provided with structured induction and ongoing refreshers. The role offers flexible hours, weekend allowances, a clear career pathway for Kaiāwhina, and a smartphone-enabled role.

Qualifications

  • Experience with spinal injuries.
  • Stoma Management experience.
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist.
  • Experience administering prescribed medication.
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive.
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person.
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people-facing roles.
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds.
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs.
  • Own a smartphone.
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand.
  • Full/restricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Each Tangata will have high risk individual care requirements, and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as Palliative cares, Bowel cares, Dementia, Mental health, Medication.

You will provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred support in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.

Whakangungu | Training

We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment. With the added bonus of year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date. You’ll be supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.

Mōhou Ake | About You

The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to.

  • Spinal injury experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles

Some client needs require Support Workers who hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification to ensure safe and appropriate care. We support equitable recruitment by recognising transferable experience and, where appropriate, providing training pathways to build and maintain Level 3–4 capability. Support Workers are matched to client needs based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
