Job summary

Access Community Health is hiring Kaiāwhina to support clients in their own homes across Waikato. You’ll help with daily living activities, uphold person-centred care, and respect each person’s culture and values. Training is provided to set you up for success, with flexible hours and weekend shifts available.

We offer paid training, travel time and mileage coverage, plus a dedicated pathway for career development within Aotearoa’s community health sector.

Qualifications

• Full or restricted driver’s license is required.
• Experience or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, or community work is valued.
• Commitment to culturally safe, respectful support for diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Support tāngata with individual care needs and daily living activities in their homes.
• Provide safe, respectful, person-centred support mindful of culture and routines.
• Adapt approach to each person’s needs and learn through structured training.

• Support through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.
• Online self-directed learning
• Working alongside a buddy trainer

MōhouAke | About You

• Full/restricted driver’s license
  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand

We are currently hiring for the following hours:

• Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends - 9:45am - 2:00pm
• Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends - 2:00pm - 6:00pm
