Job summary

BDO Gisborne is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our Commercial team. You will manage bookkeeping, payroll, GST, and Xero support for a portfolio of clients, working closely with business owners and our accounting teams to keep finances compliant and running smoothly.

We welcome candidates from bookkeeping, payroll, accounts administration, or finance support backgrounds who are proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to provide exceptional service and client communications.

Qualifications

• Three+ years’ experience in bookkeeping, payroll, or accounting support.
• Experience with GST, AP/AR, reconciliations and payroll.
• Strong Xero and MS Office skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping and payroll for a portfolio of clients.
• Prepare GST returns and provide general tax administration support.
• Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with client invoicing and compliance administration.
• Support clients with Xero and day-to-day financial queries.
• Build strong client and team relationships through exceptional service.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Provide administrative support to the Commercial team as required.
