Job summary

Te Papa Tongarewa is seeking an Object Support Preparator to join our Exhibition Services team in Wellington. You will design, fabricate and document storage, transit and display supports for collection and loan items, and help install and deinstall objects as required.

The ideal candidate has proven experience with supports, woodworking, metalwork, sewing, and interpreting design plans. Knowledge of Vectorworks, safe workshop practices, strong communication, and awareness of Māori protocols

Qualifications

Proven design, fabrication and documentation of supports for collection items.
Experience in museum, gallery or design environments is preferred.
A relevant technical qualification is required.

Responsibilities

Design, fabricate and document storage, transit and display supports for collection and loan items.
Deliver storage, transit and display supports and maintain workshop spaces.
Provide technical advice and share skills across teams.
Monitor and manage delivery-risk on a day-to-day basis.
