Job summary

The New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata is seeking a part-time Donor and Development Manager (30 hours per week) to grow fundraising and manage key relationships. You will oversee grant applications, corporate sponsorship, and donor communications, maintain the CRM, and help plan fundraising events.

Collaboration with Trustees and the Director is essential. A strong network, excellent written and verbal communication and knowledge of charities legislation are desirable.

Qualifications

  • The Donor and Development Manager will have:
  • Knowledge and experience with preparing grant applications, and a proven successful track record in applying for grants
  • Knowledge of legislation affecting charities
  • Knowledge and experience managing a CRM
  • Knowledge of special events planning and management
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with people at all levels
  • Ability to set priorities, and to work to deadlines
  • Enthusiasm and drive to be part of a growing organisation
  • A strong interest in or knowledge of the Visual Arts sector
  • Knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is desirable.
  • Outgoing, confident personality; ability to relate to all individuals and organisations relevant to NZPG
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

The New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaatatells the stories of New Zealanders through the art of portraiture.

We enable audiences to encounter portraits of NewZealanders who, in all their diversity, have shaped our country’s developmentor influenced the way we think about ourselves. Through portraiture, we offerperspectives on ourselves, our history, our creativity, and our place in theworld.

The New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata ishiring a part-time Donor and Development Manager (30 hours per week). This rolewill be critical to the ongoing growth of the organisation, caring for our manystrategic relationships and facilitating the fundraising and development of newstreams of income and support for the gallery

The Donor and Development Manager will work with theTrustees and Director to enable the implementation of a strategic approach tofundraising through annual donations, corporate sponsorship, grants fromprivate and public organisations, and in-kind support or partnerships.

The ability to cultivate and nurture strategicrelationships, manage a calendar of funding applications and reports, andfacilitate fundraising events will be pivotal to the success of this position.

Central to the role will also be maintaining the Gallery’sCustomer Relationship Management (CRM) database.

The Donor and Development Manager will have:
  • A positive and outgoing individual who enjoys networking,advocacy, working collaboratively and is self-motivated to move plans intoaction
  • Knowledge and experience with preparing grantapplications, and a proven successful track record in applying for grants
  • Knowledge of legislation affecting charities
