Job summary

Red Badge Group is seeking reliable, customer-focused individuals to join our Hamilton team as Casual Event Security Staff. You will help ensure safe, welcoming environments at local events, sports fixtures, concerts, and festivals.

Ideal candidates have a NZ COA licence (or are eligible to obtain one), a clean criminal record, and flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. You must be 18+ and eligible to work in New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Current NZ COA security licence or eligibility to obtain one.
• Clean criminal conviction record.
• Experience in security, hospitality, customer service, or similar is an advantage.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Eligible to work in New Zealand and at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, approachable service to event guests, organisers, and stakeholders.
• Monitor venues and respond to risks or incidents.
• Conduct bag checks, security screening, and validate tickets or accreditation as required.
• Assist with crowd control and safe movement of people through event spaces.
• Manage vehicle and gate access according to procedures.
• Provide clear communication to de-escalate situations.
• Represent Red Badge Group's standards and values at all times.

About the role:

• Deliver friendly, approachable service to all event guests, organisers, and stakeholders
• Monitor venue environments and take prompt action where risks or incidents arise
• Conduct bag checks, security screening, and validate tickets or accreditation as required
• Assist with crowd control and safe movement of people through event spaces
• Manage vehicle and gate access according to established procedures
• Provide clear, calm communication to resolve or de-escalate situations
• Contribute positively to the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of every event
• Represent Red Badge Group's standards and values at all times

Key Requirements:

• Hold (or be eligible to obtain) a current NZ COA (Certificate of Approval) security licence
• Clean criminal conviction record
• Previous experience in security, hospitality, customer service, or a similar field is an advantage
• Flexible availability - including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand and a minimum age of 18 years
