Seipp is an award-winning New Zealand infrastructure contractor delivering technically challenging civil infrastructure. Based in Christchurch, we’re seeking an Estimator to join our Christchurch team to contribute to tenders across water, wastewater, pipelines, structures and other civil works.
You’ll work with a Senior Estimator and local colleagues, testing methodologies, production rates, resources and risks to develop robust estimates that stand up at site.
You know your way around a civil estimate. You understand construction, enjoy getting into the detail and know that a good tender depends on understanding how the work will actually be built.
Now you’re looking for varied work, responsibility and experienced people to work alongside.
We’re looking for an Estimator to join our Christchurch team. You’ll work alongside a Senior Estimator and another Estimator locally, with further senior estimating expertise in Auckland. It’s an opportunity to put your experience to work and continue building your technical and commercial capability.
Seipp is an award-winning New Zealand infrastructure contractor delivering technically challenging civil infrastructure across the country. Our work includes projects at Benmore Dam, Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant and Corsair Bay, contributing to our purpose of better lives and healthier communities.
You’ll contribute to tenders across water and wastewater, pipelines, pump stations, structures, deep excavations, treatment infrastructure and complex civil and mechanical works.
We self-perform much of what we build, so our estimators work closely with the people delivering the projects. You’ll have access to practical construction knowledge to help test methodologies, production rates, resources and risks, and develop estimates that stand up when the work reaches site.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you’ll take responsibility for preparing estimates and contributing to tender submissions, with senior support and review.
Your work will include:
Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and scope.
Developing first-principles estimates across labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and preliminaries.
Working with delivery teams on construction methodologies, programme and resourcing.
Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor pricing.
Identifying risks, opportunities, assumptions and scope gaps.
Contributing to non-price submissions, tender reviews and clarifications.
Helping hand successful tenders over to our delivery teams.
You’ll be encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions and contribute ideas about how we can price and deliver work more effectively.
You’ll already be an Estimator, with at least three years’ relevant estimating experience in civil construction.
You’ll be comfortable working with drawings, quantities, rates, productivity and subcontractor pricing, and understand how methodology, programme and cost fit together.
You’ll also bring:
Sound commercial judgement and an understanding of construction contracts.
Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to manage tender deadlines.
Clear communication and a willingness to work through problems with others.
Strong Excel skills and experience using estimating software.
Experience with Pronamics Expert Estimation would be an advantage. A qualification in Quantity Surveying or Engineering is preferred, but we also value capability developed through practical experience.
You’ll join an established estimating team with opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues and contribute to varied, technically interesting work.
Our values are Safety, Encouragement, Innovation, Professional and Purposeful. In practice, that means looking after people, supporting each other, finding better ways to deliver and taking pride in our work. Our standards are straightforward: be brilliant at the basics, take no shortcuts, take ownership and protect the commercial position.
Alongside a salary reflecting your experience, Seipp provides:
Professional membership support.
Ongoing training and development.
Staff recognition, wellbeing initiatives and team events.
If you’re an experienced civil Estimator looking to broaden your experience and contribute to a team that understands construction, we’d like to hear from you.
