An exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Estimator to join a progressive New Zealand infrastructure contractor with a strong pipeline of technically challenging projects.

Our client is an established, privately owned contractor specialising in three waters, heavy civil, structures and complex infrastructure. With operations across New Zealand and ambitious growth plans, they're continuing to invest in their people, technical capability and project delivery teams.

Unlike many larger contractors, this business self-performs much of its work, giving its estimating team direct access to experienced engineers, construction managers and site crews. It's a collaborative, practical environment where buildability and smart construction methodology are just as important as the numbers.

The Opportunity working closely with the senior leadership, commercial and delivery teams, you'll play a key role in securing new projects and supporting the continued growth of the business.

You'll be involved in a varied portfolio of civil infrastructure tenders, from complex three-waters projects through to major structures and specialist infrastructure works.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil infrastructure projects
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and contract requirements
• Developing construction methodologies alongside engineering and delivery teams
• Completing detailed take-offs, pricing and cost analysis
• Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
• Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions
• Supporting tender submissions, clarifications and handovers to delivery teams

About You You'll bring a strong background in civil construction estimating, ideally with exposure to three waters, heavy civil, structures, piling or technically complex infrastructure projects.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has proven estimating experience within a civil construction contractor
• Understands construction methodology, sequencing and buildability
• Is commercially astute with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Can work collaboratively with engineers, project managers and operational teams
• Is proactive, practical and comfortable taking ownership of tenders
• Brings a down-to-earth attitude and enjoys being part of a close-knit team

A background in project engineering or delivery before moving into estimating would also be highly regarded.
