Aspect Furniture Systems Limited in Timaru seeks an experienced Estimator to support the delivery of commercial furniture projects across New Zealand. You will prepare accurate estimates and quotations, interpret drawings and specifications, and collaborate with Sales to ensure competitive pricing and viable projects.

The role requires methodical, commercially minded individuals who can manage multiple estimates, meet deadlines and stay informed on market costs.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years’ experience in estimating, quantity surveying, pricing, or a similar commercial role.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills to interpret drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive, detail-focused and able to work under pressure.
  • Experience in commercial furniture, manufacturing, construction, joinery, interiors, or a related industry is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate estimates and quotations based on drawings, specifications, customer requirements and project scope.
  • Review project information to identify quantities, materials, finishes, labour, freight, installation and potential risks.
  • Price projects to achieve company margin and commercial objectives.
  • Manage multiple estimates and tenders from enquiry through to submission, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Project teams for accurate pricing and smooth handover.
  • Identify and resolve gaps in drawings, specifications and project information before final pricing.
  • Support tender submissions and commercial proposals with clear, professional pricing documents.
  • Maintain pricing records and project documentation.
  • Stay updated on product, material, manufacturing and market costs.

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team and play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of commercial furniture projects across New Zealand.

What you’ll be doing

  • Review project information and drawings to identify quantities, materials, finishes, labour, freight, installation, and any potential risks or exclusions.

  • Price projects competitively and accurately, while ensuring company margin and commercial objectives are achieved.

  • Manage multiple estimates and tenders from enquiry through to submission, ensuring deadlines are met and information is complete.

  • Work closely with Sales, Design, Manufacturing, and Project teams to clarify requirements and ensure accurate pricing and smooth project handover.

  • Identify and resolve gaps or discrepancies in drawings, specifications, quantities, and project information before pricing is finalised.

  • Support tender submissions and commercial proposals, ensuring pricing and documentation are accurate, clear, and professionally presented.

  • Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing information, and project documentation.

  • Stay up to date with product, material, manufacturing, and market costs to support accurate and commercially sound pricing.

  • Provide ongoing support to the Sales and Project teams with pricing, variations, and commercial queries throughout the project lifecycle.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator who is commercially minded, highly organised, and has a strong eye for detail.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Has at least 5 years’ experience in estimating, quantity surveying, pricing, or a similar commercial role.

  • Is highly analytical and detail-focused, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

  • Is confident working with numbers, costs, margins, and pricing.

  • Can manage multiple priorities and deadlines without losing accuracy.

  • Is proactive you ask questions and identify issues early.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and stays focused under pressure.

  • Has a positive, can-do attitude and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.

Experience in commercial furniture, manufacturing, construction, joinery, interiors, engineering, or a similar industry would be highly regarded.
