You’ll also gain exposure to different procurement models, including traditional competitive tenders, negotiated work, Design-Build and ECI projects. The position description specifically includes estimating and proposals across Tender, Design-Build and ECI projects.

This is an end-to-end estimating position where you’ll have the autonomy to take a tender from initial review through to final submission.

  • Preparing estimates, proposals and contract budgets
  • Maintaining accurate material and labour pricing information
  • Providing clear tender documentation and handover information to the project and QS teams
  • Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, clients and internal construction teams

The role has a strong commercial focus, with an emphasis on producing accurate bids, protecting margin and thoroughly analysing subcontractor pricing and risk.

We’re looking for someone with:
  • 5+ years’ experience in New Zealand commercial vertical construction
  • A strong background in estimating, quantity take-offs, measuring and pricing
  • The ability to autonomously manage a tender from start to finish
  • Good knowledge of the NZ subcontractor and supplier market
  • Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to challenge pricing
  • Experience identifying scope gaps, exclusions and commercial risk
  • Exposure to traditional tendering, negotiated work and ECI projects
  • Excellent attention to detail and well-organised tender documentation
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • The ambition to continue developing into a more senior estimating position
What’s on offer
  • Remuneration around $140k p.a. equivalent, depending on experience
  • Hourly-rate remuneration structure
  • Varied commercial construction project portfolio
  • Exposure to different procurement and tender models
  • Autonomy and ownership of your tenders
  • Genuine longer-term progression as part of a succession plan
  • Opportunity to play a key role in the future development of the estimating and procurement function
