Job summary

Queen Margaret College in Wellington is seeking an enthusiastic ESOL Teacher to support learners across Years 7-13. You will deliver responsive programmes to build confidence, accelerate language acquisition and strengthen curriculum literacy.

A key focus is helping students develop literacy for NCEA and the language demands of post-school pathways, with strong communication and culturally responsive practice.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid New Zealand Teaching Registration Certificate.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled ESOL Teacher to support learners across Years 7-13. In this role, you will work closely with students who are developing English language proficiency, delivering responsive programmes that build confidence, accelerate language acquisition, and strengthen curriculum literacy.

A key focus of this position is supporting students to develop the co-requisite literacy competencies required for NCEA achievement, alongside the academic literacy needed for senior study and tertiary pathways. You will help students develop the confidence and capability to engage with complex texts, communicate effectively, think critically, and meet the language demands of post ‑ school opportunities.

• A valid New Zealand Teaching Registration Certificate
• Experience teaching ESOL or English language learners
• Strong communication and relationship ‑ building skills
• An understanding of language ‑ learning pedagogies and culturally responsive practice
