Job summary

Queen Margaret College in Wellington is seeking an enthusiastic ESOL Teacher to support learners across Years 7-13. You will deliver responsive programmes to build confidence, accelerate language acquisition and strengthen curriculum literacy.

A key focus is helping students develop literacy for NCEA and the language demands of post-school pathways, with strong communication and culturally responsive practice.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid New Zealand Teaching Registration Certificate.
• Experience teaching ESOL or English language learners.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of language-learning pedagogies and culturally responsive practice.

Responsibilities

• Support learners across Years 7–13.
• Deliver responsive ESOL programmes to build confidence and language acquisition.
• Support co-requisite literacy for NCEA and academic literacy for senior study.
• Help students engage with complex texts and communicate effectively.
