Job summary

Iqra School in West Auckland is seeking a permanent Teacher Aide starting in 2027 to support ESOL and maths for Years 1–8. This on-site role offers 30 hours per week in a values-based Islamic educational environment.

You will collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver targeted language support for ESOL learners and provide maths assistance, while monitoring progress and tailoring strategies for diverse students, with opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Teacher Aide, ESOL instructor, maths tutor, or similar educational support role.
• Strong understanding of English language learner needs and techniques for developing vocabulary and communication skills.
• Experience supporting students in mathematics instruction.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and adapt teaching methods to individual needs.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (NZ residency or valid work visa).

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted English language support to ESOL students, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills
• Deliver maths support to students who need additional help, building their knowledge and confidence in numeracy
• Assist students in understanding and completing classroom assignments, with emphasis on language comprehension and mathematical reasoning
• Monitor and record student progress in both language and maths, adjusting support strategies as needed
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to implement their guidance and instructional objectives
