Job summary

CORDE is seeking an Environmental Manager/Advisor to lead environmental and sustainability across the organisation. Based at Rolleston head office, you will travel to sites around Canterbury and collaborate with divisions to drive carbon, waste and water programmes.

You will set strategy, run ISO 14001, manage consents, and lead audits, while coaching HSEQ teams and coordinating with councils and clients. A strong background in three waters or civil infra is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Management.
• 7+ years in environmental roles in civil construction, three waters or roading.
• Strong knowledge of RMA, ISO 14001, hazardous substances, waste, water, biodiversity.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental strategy and ISO 14001 system across CORDE.
• Coach site crews in sediment control, hazards, biodiversity protection.
• Engage with councils/clients and manage environmental risk in tenders.

What's the job?

As we continue to grow as a business, we're looking for an experienced Environmental Manager or Environmental Advisor ready to step into a leadership position. This is a crucial role, working closely with our various divisions to lead environmental and sustainability across CORDE.

About the role | Ko te Kaupapa

As the Environmental Manager, you'll set the environmental and sustainability strategy, run our ISO 14001 system, resource consenting, and be the person people come to with environmental questions. Based at our Rolleston head office and reporting to the Head of HSEQ, you'll be expected to spend time out on our various construction sites across Canterbury alongside the crews, along with meeting with councils and clients.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Running our resource consenting, and leading our ISO 14001 system and the Telarc audits that come with it
• Coaching HSE advisors and crews in the field on sediment and spill control, hazardous substances, flora and fauna protection, and accidental discovery
• Pricing environmental risk into tenders, and driving our carbon, waste and water programmes

What you'll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline
• 7+ years in environmental roles across civil construction, three waters or roading - with genuine exposure to three waters or civil infrastructure environments essential
• Solid technical grounding in the RMA and resource consents, ISO 14001, hazardous substances, waste, water, biodiversity and emissions
• Experience leading people and lifting capability in others
• Good judgement about what's a compliance issue, what's an improvement opportunity, and what can wait
• A track record with councils and consent authorities
• Carbon and GHG reporting experience. ISO 14001 lead auditor training is a bonus
• Full Class 1 NZ driver licence
