Join Our Team is seeking a Dairy Farm Assistant to help with the day-to-day operation of a dairy farm near Te Awamutu. This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.

You will assist with feeding, milking, farm hygiene and daily stock checks, as well as basic record-keeping and safety compliance. Applicants should be reliable, physically capable and willing to learn.

Qualifications

• Be reliable and willing to learn.
• Be comfortable working outdoors and around livestock.
• Able to undertake the physical duties required by the role.
• Available for early mornings, weekends and public holidays as rostered.
• Follow instructions and work safely.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Consent to a Ministry of Justice criminal record check.
• Consent to the employer obtaining relevant ACC claims history for assessment against the physical requirements of the position.
• Provide a current CV.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with feeding stock and setting up break fences.
• Assisting with milking and maintaining dairy hygiene.
• Cleaning the dairy shed, yards, plant and equipment.
• Observing livestock and reporting animal health concerns.
• Assisting with calving, calf rearing, mating and other seasonal work.
• Assisting with pasture maintenance, weed control, fertiliser application and irrigation.
• Assisting with the farm effluent system.
• Completing basic farm and livestock records as instructed.
• Assisting with fencing, repairs and general farm maintenance.
• Complying with health and safety, animal welfare and environmental requirements.
