Evolve Recruitment Group – Auckland, North Island

About the Company
This organisation is on a significant transformation journey, reshaping its technology landscape to better support its customers and the future of energy in Aotearoa. With a people‑first culture, coaching‑focused leadership, and a strong commitment to innovation and simplicity, the business is building a more sustainable, scalable, and digitally‑empowered future. The technology function plays a central role in guiding this shift, ensuring platforms, practices, and ways of working are ready for what's ahead.

Why this role matters
You’ll provide architectural leadership and expertise that directly supports the direction of the business.

You’re accountable for architecting and implementing end‑to‑end technology architecture and designs spanning business, data, application, integration, and technology stacks for enterprise solutions - ensuring every solution aligns with and supports the wider organisational strategy.

You’ll work closely with the Enterprise Architecture Chapter Lead to shape the wider architecture and portfolio capability, including future strategies and roadmaps, making this a genuinely influential role during a period of large‑scale change.

Why you’ll love working here
You’ll be joining a genuinely collaborative, coaching‑focused team that values trust, low ego, and relationship building.

You’ll work with leaders who value pragmatism, people‑first thinking, and empowering others to do their best work, with career pathways into senior architecture leadership and opportunities to grow across major programmes and transformation initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Support the development of technology strategy and direction, contributing to the realisation of the organisation's technology vision.
  • Help the business prioritise and size initiatives based on existing capability, informing enterprise architecture and roadmaps.
  • Ensure domain‑level architecture aligns with enterprise principles, standards, roadmaps, and strategic priorities.
  • Champion an Enterprise Architecture approach so initiatives align with business objectives, applying EA standards while balancing pragmatic business needs.
  • Develop and maintain architecture frameworks that support the technology strategy, and act as an architectural escalation point.
  • Lead cross‑domain alignment activities to manage interdependencies.
  • Proactively identify technical, process, and technology opportunities for value, and help domain leads identify capability gaps and build actionable roadmaps.
  • Evolve cloud strategy, frameworks, patterns, and standards; advance integration patterns, identity/security frameworks, and data‑sharing approaches.
  • Perform Lead Domain Architect duties - providing architectural leadership and guidance to Domain Leads, supporting them in shaping domain strategies, resolving complexity, and navigating trade‑offs.
  • Ensure domain‑level architecture is cohesive, scalable, secure, and aligned with the broader technology strategy, mentoring and uplifting architectural capability within domains.
  • Champion early engagement with Enterprise Architecture, helping domain leads embed architectural thinking into the earliest stages of planning and discovery.
  • Build strong relationships across technology and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding of architectures and roadmaps.

What you bring

  • Five or more years' experience as a senior architect in a large organisation, delivering practical solutions to complex organisational problems.
  • A thorough understanding of architectural frameworks, processes, and industry standards, including cloud architecture.
  • A strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving abilities and lateral thinking.
  • Commercial expertise, including experience working with counterparts in external provider organisations.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • A curious mindset, open to and contributing fresh ideas.
  • Top‑notch communication skills, both verbal and written.
