Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. invites five motivated engineering summer interns for a 12-week program from November 2026 to February 2027.

Interns will work on real product development activities across application engineering, test automation, system validation, GNSS receiver integration, or electronic module design. Qualifications

• Engineering, electronics, computer science, software engineering, telecommunications, or related study
• Interest in embedded systems, automation, GNSS, RF systems, product testing, or hardware/software integration
• Experience or interest in Python, C#, embedded C, electronic circuit design, or PCB design
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Good communication, teamwork, organisation, and attention to detail
• Be studying, or have recently completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree
• Be studying science, technology, engineering, design, business, or a related field at a New Zealand tertiary education institution
• Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand

Responsibilities

• Testing, validating, and documenting real-world product applications
• Developing or improving automated test frameworks for software and hardware validation
• Supporting system-level testing, troubleshooting, and product verification
• Evaluating GNSS receiver technologies, performance, signal quality, and integration approaches
• Assisting with electronic circuit, PCB, RF, and module design and validation activities
• Analysing test results, documenting findings, and sharing recommendations with engineering teams
