Job summary

Service Foods seeks an experienced Payroll Officer to join our National Support team in Mangere, Auckland. You will own end-to-end payroll for ~800 employees across 18 branches and support HR administration within a collaborative, values-driven, family-owned organisation.

You will report to the Workforce and Payroll Manager, work with the Commercial Reporting & Insights team, and help deliver accurate, timely payroll while supporting HR initiatives and system improvements.

Qualifications

• Ter tiary qualification in business, administration or accounting.
• 3+ years NZ payroll experience.
• End-to-end payroll processing experience.
• Experience with payroll systems RWF or Zambion.
• Strong knowledge of NZ payroll legislation (Holidays Act, PAYE, KiwiSaver).
• Experience in complex payroll environments (shift workers, allowances).
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, charts).
• Attention to detail and strong analytical capability.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing (wages and salaries).
• Manage employee changes, leave, allowances, deductions and adjustments; ensure accurate reconciliations and filings.
• Respond to payroll queries with professionalism.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure NZ compliance.
• Support audit preparation and payroll documentation.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders (IRD, MOJ, MSD, MBIE, ACC).
• Prepare payroll and workforce reports and dashboards.
• Support workforce planning and HR initiatives.
