Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced senior Emergency Department nurse to join as Nurse Coordinator, Quality and Patient Safety at Palmerston North Hospital. You will provide professional leadership, clinical advice and governance to embed a whole-person safety culture and drive quality improvements across the ED.

You will lead audits, education, policy development and incident reviews, partnering with the ED senior team and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver safe,

Qualifications

  • NZ Registered Nurse with Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Experience as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse.
  • Graduate and postgraduate qualification or working towards.
  • Experience in clinical audit, evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to analyse data to support decision-making and service improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional leadership and clinical advice to governance of quality and patient safety in the ED.
  • Coordinate responses to serious and adverse incidents and promote organisational learning.
  • Lead and support quality improvement activities, including audits, education, policy and pathway development.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams to embed safety culture in the ED.
  • Support delivery of safe, effective, patient-centred care across the department.
