Job summary

Advanced Personnel Services – Christchurch, South Island is seeking experienced Electricians for a temporary 4-month assignment based in Kaiapoi. This role suits General, Industrial, Commercial and/or High Voltage electricians to contribute to a major electrical infrastructure project.

The position runs October 2026 to February 2027, with hours 7:30am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday. On-site work, competitive hourly pay, and opportunities to build HV/substation experience are provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold an EWRB Practising Licence.
• NZ Class 1 driving licence is required.
• Reliable transport to site is essential.
• Physically fit for demanding work and heavy cable pulling.
• Strong commitment to health and safety on site.
• Ability to read electrical drawings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform high voltage cable pulling and installation.
• Install/wire switchgear and cabinets.
• Carry out control cable installations and terminations.
• Complete equipment earthing tasks and general electrical wiring.
• Work on High Voltage projects for qualified electricians.
• Collaborate with team on infrastructure substation work.

We are seeking experienced Electricians for a temporary 4-month opportunity based in Kaiapoi

This is a great opportunity for General, Industrial, Commercial and/or High Voltage Electricians to work on a major electrical infrastructure project.

The Role

Start: October 2026

Duration: 4 months, through to February 2027

Location: Kaiapoi

Hours: 7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday

Pay: $35–$42 per hour, depending on experience

What You'll Be Doing

• High Voltage cable pulling and cable installation

• High Voltage work (for suitably qualified electricians)

What You Need

• Current EWRB Practising Licence – this is essential
• Full NZ Class 1 driver's licence
• Reliable transport to and from site
• Physically fit and comfortable with demanding work, including heavy cable pulling
• Strong commitment to health and safety
• Ability to provide your own standard hand tools
• High Voltage/substation experience is advantageous
• Ability to read electrical drawings and cable schedules is beneficial
• Working at Heights and/or EWP tickets are advantageous
• You must be able to pass a drug test at the pre-employment stage and be subject to random testing.
• You must be a NZ Citizen/Resident or hold a current work visa and be residing in New Zealand for these roles.
