Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician for Gisborne Hospital. The role covers electrical installations, maintenance, testing, fault-finding and repairs across facilities, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will support essential infrastructure, work in a team under Building & Engineering Services, and contribute to high standards of service, safety, and patient care in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current NZ Electrician registration with a valid Electrical Practising Licence.
• Minimum 5 years in industrial or commercial electrical environments.
• Sound knowledge of NZ standards and regulations; able to read diagrams.
• Full NZ driver's licence.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Electrician to join our Building & Engineering Services team at Gisborne Hospital. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical installations, maintenance, testing, fault-finding, and repairs across Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti facilities.

You will ensure hospital buildings, plant, and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards. This role is critical to maintaining essential infrastructure that supports the delivery of healthcare services across the region

The Building & Engineering Services team is part of the Logistics Group and provides essential maintenance and engineering support across Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti facilities. The team is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of hospital infrastructure and services, contributing directly to quality patient care and staff safety.

About you

• Current New Zealand Registered Electrician status with a current Electrical Practising Licence.
• At least 5 years' practical experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical environments.
• Sound knowledge of Australian and New Zealand electrical standards and regulations.
• Experience interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
• Strong fault-finding, maintenance, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to identify hazards and proactively manage risks in the workplace.
• A basic understanding of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• A current full driver's licence.
