AWF Limited in Whanganui, NZ is seeking a motivated electrician to join our team. You will work across residential, commercial, and light industrial sectors, handling installation, maintenance, servicing, fault‑finding and project work.

We prefer NZ Registered Electricians, but Limited Licence Electricians and 3rd Year Apprentices progressing toward registration are encouraged to apply. Local candidates preferred to support our community.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical systems and equipment.
• Carry out electrical fault-finding, testing, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Complete residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations.
• Interpret and work from electrical plans, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
• Ensure all work complies with current New Zealand electrical standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems.
• Accurately complete job documentation, testing records, and compliance paperwork.
• Provide professional and friendly customer service while maintaining positive client relationships.
• Assist with project work and contribute to the successful delivery of jobs on time and to a high standard.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition.
• Participate in after-hours or on-call work when required.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and safety-conscious electrician to join our growing team in Whanganui. We are ideally looking for a Registered Electrician, however Limited Licence Electricians and 3rd Year Electrical Apprentices who are working towards registration are also encouraged to apply.

This role offers a diverse range of work across residential, commercial, and light industrial sectors, providing exposure to installation, maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, and project work. No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.

Applicants based in Whanganui or the surrounding region are preferred to support our local customer base and responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical systems and equipment.

We Are Looking For:

• NZ Registered Electrician with a current practising licence; or
• Holder of a Limited Electrical Licence; or
• 3rd Year Electrical Apprentice actively working towards registration.

Requirements

• Current New Zealand Driver Licence (Full Licence preferred).
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing if required.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks associated with electrical work.
• Comfortable working at heights, in ceiling spaces, underfloor areas, and across a variety of construction and maintenance environments.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work ethic at all times.
