Job summary

Climate and Plumbing in New Plymouth, North Island, is seeking an on-site sparky to install power supplies, zone controls and connections for heat pumps, hot water heat pumps and ventilation. You’ll also handle electrical and controls aspects of plumbing and gas services.

Every day varies with jobs across homes, schools, offices and workshops. On bigger days you may stay a little later to finish tasks, with a core 7:30–4:00 Mon–Fri schedule and on‑site work in the Taranaki region.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Registration and a current practising licence.
• Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Living in New Zealand with the right to work here.
• Based in or near New Plymouth.

Responsibilities

• Power supplies, zone controls and connections for heat pumps, hot water heat pumps and ventilation.
• Handle electrical and controls side of plumbing and gas services on site.
• Work on sites ranging from homes to schools, offices and workshops, with varying daily tasks.
• On bigger days you may stay later to finish tasks.

About us

Climate Plumbing started out as a heating business 70 years ago (DH Holyoake and Co Ltd) and has grown into one of Taranaki's best known names in heating, plumbing, gas and drainage. Today we cover HVAC, plumbing, gasfitting, drainlaying and mechanical services.

Seventy years in one province counts for something. A good part of Taranaki has had us in their home or their building at some stage, and the work has kept coming because we do it properly.

What you would be doing

Power supplies, Zone controls and connections for the heat pumps, hot water heat pumps and ventilation we install, plus the electrical and controls side of our plumbing and gas services. It varies a lot between homes, schools, offices, workshops and businesses. Nearly everything we install needs a sparky at some point, so no two days look the same.

Every job is a little different. Some are straightforward. Others require all of us on site to pitch in and work a solution.

The day

7:30 to 4:00. Mon-Fri On a bigger day you might stay an extra hour to finish what you started, but that is the exception.

What you will need

• New Zealand Electrical Registration and a current practising licence, two years or more
• Full New Zealand driver's licence
• Living in New Zealand with the right to work here
• Based in or near New Plymouth
• Able to work in roof spaces, underfloor and off ladders
• Heat pump or HVAC experience is a bonus. If you have not got it, you'll learn on the job.
