Job summary

Laser Electrical Greymouth is looking for a skilled supervisor who can lead Apprentices while installing, maintaining and inspecting electrical wiring and equipment. The role requires interpreting wiring diagrams and floor plans, ensuring safety compliance and timely documentation. Strong maths/physics grounding and NZ registration are essential.

The successful candidate will mentor apprentices, drive quality and safety standards, and manage work progress on site with autonomy and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Completed Apprenticeship and Level 4 electrical qualifications.
• NZ Electrical Registration and Practising Licence.
• Valid NZ driver''s licence.
• Strong math and physics skills.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and floor plans.
• Knowledge of current electrical standards and safety procedures.
• Ability to work accurately without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Study and interpret wiring diagrams and floor plans.
• Test electrical work for safety.
• Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards and ensure compliance with codes.
• Ensure documentation related to electrical work is completed on time.
• Lead and mentor Apprentices, coaching and developing their skills.
• Address performance shortfalls of Apprentices to facilitate improvement.

To install, maintain, repair, inspect and test electrical wiring, equipment and appliance in compliance with statutory regulations and standards and ensuring that all quality standards and client deadlines are met.

Key responsibilities

Assemble, install and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

Study and interpret wiring diagrams and floor plans.

Test electrical work for safety.

Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

Ensure all work is carried out to electrical regulations and safety standards.

Ensure all documentation relating to electrical work is completed on an accurate and timely basis.

Lead by example, demonstrating visible and positive leadership to drive improved performance of Apprentices.

Direct, develop and motivate your Apprentice through effective coaching and mentoring and providing learning opportunities.

Address or report performance shortfalls of Apprentices early to facilitate improvement.

About you

Completed Apprenticeship and National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4) or a National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Level 4).

New Zealand Electrical Registration and Practising Licence.

A full and valid New Zealand driver's licence.

Good math and physics skills.

Good hand-eye coordination.

Good working knowledge of current electrical standards and regulations.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and floor plans.

Knowledge of safety procedures and first aid.

Ability to work accurately, without supervision.
