Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking an Electrical Tradesperson to support the maintenance and reliability of critical power supply assets at the Tiwai Point site near Invercargill, Southland, NZ. You will work within a safety-focused, structured maintenance framework to ensure safe, efficient asset performance and a balanced lifestyle roster.

Reporting to the relevant Leader, you will perform planned and breakdown maintenance, identify defects, raise notifications, complete work orders, and support defect

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety of yourself and your team.
• Hold (or be eligible to obtain) a current Electrical Practising Licence.
• Experience with electrical systems, ideally HV environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot faults efficiently.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with stakeholders.
• Proactive maintenance, continuous improvement and asset care.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on electrical assets.
• Identify defects and raise notifications (RTBS).
• Complete work orders and capture asset performance feedback.
• Support defect elimination and maintenance improvements.
• Follow work management processes and job instructions to a high standard.
• Respond to unplanned events to minimise disruption to power supply.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering on sustaining improvements.
• Maintain high voltage operating and safety competencies.
