Job summary

Compakto Limited in Nelson, New Zealand, is hiring a full-time Licensed Electrician to join the workshop team. You will wire control cabinets, install components, program and troubleshoot PLCs/VFDs, and certify machines. Travel within New Zealand for installation and service may be required.

A NZ Practising Licence and EST registration are essential. We offer a stable full-time role in a modern workshop, with the chance to contribute to innovative automated woodworking systems shipped worldwide.

Qualifications

• A current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence is required.
• EST registration or equivalent.
• Experience wiring industrial machinery and control panels.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and VFDs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Full New Zealand driver's licence.
• Legally entitled to work in New Zealand; visa sponsorship not available.
• Omron PLCs/automation experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Build and wire electrical control cabinets.
• Install and wire electrical components on new machines.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs (Omron).
• Create and update electrical schematics.
• Test, commission, and electrically certify completed machines.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults.
• Assist with machine installations and occasional on-site service work.
• Help out with general workshop assembly when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace.
