About the Role

Our client, a leader in specialized industrial automation solutions, is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Designer to join their innovative, fully remote team. This role focuses on the conceptualization, design, and specification of electrical control systems for a diverse range of industrial applications. You will be responsible for translating client requirements into robust and efficient electrical designs, including schematics, panel layouts, and Bills of Materials. This is a remote-first opportunity, allowing you to collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams from your home office. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial networking, coupled with excellent CAD skills and a passion for designing cutting-edge automation solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring our automation systems meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems for industrial automation projects, including schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Specify components such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, relays, and power distribution equipment.
• Create detailed panel layout drawings and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical control panels and systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to ensure integrated system design.
• Review and approve vendor documentation and submittals for electrical components.
• Provide technical support during the manufacturing, testing, and commissioning phases of projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, ISO) and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate and organized design documentation and revision control.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical control system design and specification.
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD Electrical or similar schematic design software.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial automation components.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
• Understanding of electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 79).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for a remote work environment.
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
