X Electrix Limited, Auckland-based electrical and HVAC contractor, seeks an Electrical Estimator to secure profitable tenders and build our developing estimating function. The role suits a trades-qualified electrician or an estimator with site delivery experience, eager to progress in preconstruction within a supportive team.
You will review drawings, prepare estimates, identify risks, gather pricing, and help shape budgets and processes for efficient tender outcomes.
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.
X Electrix is a growing Auckland-based commercial electrical and HVAC contractor delivering multi-residential, commercial and design-and-build projects.
We work alongside leading developers, builders and commercial clients and are continuing to invest in our people, systems and technology as the business grows.
We’re now looking for an Electrical Estimator to help secure profitable work and develop our estimating and preconstruction function.
This role could suit:
A trade-qualified commercial electrician or supervisor ready to move off the tools.
An existing Electrical Estimator with genuine site and project-delivery experience.
An Electrical Project Engineer or contractor-side Electrical Engineer with practical commercial construction knowledge.
We’re not necessarily looking for a senior corporate estimator. We’re looking for someone with strong practical electrical knowledge, good numerical ability and the commercial curiosity to develop into an excellent estimator within a supportive team.
Reporting to the Director, you’ll prepare accurate, competitive and deliverable tenders for commercial electrical projects.
You’ll work closely with our Project Managers, Site Supervisors and Project Accountant to combine technical knowledge, project information and commercial data into estimates that are realistic, well considered and capable of being delivered successfully.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation.
Completing quantity take-offs and preparing labour, material, plant and subcontractor estimates.
Identifying missing scope, unclear information, coordination issues and commercial risks.
Obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing and exploring value-engineering opportunities.
Preparing project budgets and detailed handovers for the Project Management team.
Helping improve estimating systems, digital workflows and preconstruction processes.
You’ll have practical knowledge of commercial electrical installations and understand how projects are actually built.
Ideally, you’ll have several years’ experience in the electrical industry, including exposure to commercial construction, project delivery or estimating.
You’ll also bring:
The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
An understanding of installation methodology, sequencing, labour productivity, procurement and construction logistics.
Strong numerical, analytical and Microsoft Excel skills.
An interest in budgets, margins, labour performance and estimate-versus-actual results.
The confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions and seek technical input.
Strong digital capability and a genuine interest in using AI and modern technology to improve tender review, research and estimating efficiency.
You’ll understand that a successful tender is not simply the lowest price. It must also allow the project to be delivered within the labour, materials, programme and risk allowances included.
You won’t be expected to know everything from day one.
You’ll be supported by experienced Project Managers and Site Supervisors with electrical trade backgrounds, who can provide practical guidance on installation methods, labour requirements, sequencing and project delivery.
Our Project Accountant will provide historical project costs and estimate-versus-actual reporting, while the Director will support you with contracts, pricing strategy, margins and final tender approval.
Your role will be to bring this information together into accurate, competitive and deliverable tenders.
We offer:
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to step into estimating, build on existing project experience or continue developing their commercial career within a growing contractor.
