Job summary

EIS is growing its Canterbury team and is seeking an Electrical Estimator with strong industrial-site experience to join our project delivery ladder. You’ll price and prepare estimates for large industrial electrical and automation projects, read P&IDs and electrical drawings, and work with Project Managers to scope and deliver successful bids.

We value hands-on trade backgrounds, commercial awareness, and a proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified industrial electrician with hands-on site experience.
• Strong understanding of industrial project delivery and estimating.
• Experience or exposure to project management.
• Ability to confidently interpret P&IDs and electrical construction drawings.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word; good communication.
• Bonus for 2–3 years in industrial electrical/automation projects and estimating exposure.

What you’ll be doing:

• Pricing and preparing estimates for industrial electrical and automation projects
• Reading and interpreting P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and electrical drawings
• Working alongside Project Managers to scope, price, and deliver projects successfully
• Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
• Managing multiple tenders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Contributing to continual improvement across estimating systems and processes
• Growing into greater project management responsibility over time

What you’ll bring:

• A trade background as an industrial electrician
• Real-world understanding of industrial project delivery
• Experience with, or exposure to, project management
• The ability to confidently interpret P&IDs and electrical construction drawings
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Confidence using Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Great communication skills and a proactive attitude

Bonus points for:

• 2–3 years’ experience in industrial electrical, automation, or electrical design projects
• Exposure to estimating or project coordination
• A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering, automation, or quantity surveying
