Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team. You will assist in testing electrical systems, preparing charts, and estimating costs to support Engineering Technologists.

Responsibilities include data collection, testing, cost estimation, and inspection for compliance with specifications. You will aid design layouts, prepare diagrams, and assemble equipment while upholding QA and OH&S policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level degree in electrical/related field or NZQA equivalent.
  • 3+ years proven experience in electrical testing or related field.
  • Ability to read designs, drawings and specifications accurately.

We are looking for a Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team who will assist conduct tests of electrical systems, prepare charts and tabulations, and assist in estimating costs in support of Engineering Technologists.

Main Responsibilities but not limited to:
  • Collects data and performs tests and calculations
  • Estimates materials, costs and quantities
  • Inspects designs and finished products for compliance with specifications and regulations
  • Assisting Electricians and Engineering Technologists in design and layout of electrical installations and circuitry on substations, switchgear, cabling systems and motor control systems
  • Preparing drawings, plans and diagrams of electrical installations and circuitry
  • Assembles, installs, tests, modifies and repairs electrical equipment and installations to conform with regulations and safety requirements
  • Undertakes electrical workshop functions, such as installing assemblies for protection relays, metering and indicating devices
  • Must undertake other duties as delegated by the leading hand.
  • Must adhere to all company policies including Quality Assurance and Occupational Health and Safety
Qualification, Experience and Skills Required:
  • Must have atleast three years of proven experience in similar field or Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) (NZQCF Level 8) or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering) (NZQCF Level 7) or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) (NZQCF Level 7).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and building codes.
  • A team member must have good communication skills, interpersonal skills and also timemanagement skills.
  • Must present a good quality and high standard work to the client.
  • Must be able to work in an unsupervised area, safe and trustworthy.
  • Must be a positive team player.
  • Creative and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • No registration or licencing required.

Full Time Permanent

Minimum and Maximum Pay Rate


Minimum Pay Rate: $35.00 per hour
Maximum Pay Rate: $50.00 per hour
