Job summary

Turbo Staff in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Electrical Trade Assistant to join our busy team on long-term residential, commercial and construction projects across the South Island, including Christchurch.

You will work under supervision, read blueprints, maintain electrical systems, and contribute to safety compliance while developing skills and progressing your career.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as an Electrical Trade Assistant.
• EWRB Limited Licence (essential).
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical documentation.
• Own tools and reliable transportation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the installation of electrical systems, including fire alarm systems, in accordance with technical drawings and layout plans.
• Performing routine maintenance and inspections of electrical and fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshooting and repair faults in wiring, fire alarm panels, and other electrical components under supervision.
• Supporting cable pulling, system terminations, and testing to verify circuit continuity and functionality.
• Maintaining accurate records of completed work, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered during installation or servicing.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Hold a relevant licence, such as an EWRB Limited Licence (essential).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Own tools and reliable transportation preferred.
• Competitive hourly rate of $28-$32 per hour.
