Job summary
BGIS in Auckland seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of commercial electrical infrastructure, PV and battery energy storage projects across New Zealand. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and BGIS teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.
This role requires practical, detail-oriented professionals with strong technical expertise,
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering (NZ qualification or NZQA-recognised equivalent).
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience in electrical engineering design.
- New Zealand residency and a valid NZ driver licence.
- Proven experience designing medium and large-scale LV commercial installations.
- Experience with electrical distribution systems (LV/HV).
- Exposure to PV solar and battery energy storage system design.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.
Responsibilities
- Design medium and large-scale low-voltage commercial electrical installations.
- Support design and advisory services for electrical distribution networks.
- Prepare engineering designs for PV solar and BESS systems.
- Produce technical reports, calculations, specs, drawings and docs.
- Review tender docs, procurement info and contractor submissions.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with NZ electrical, building, health and safety standards.
- Support project planning, reviews and problem solving.
