Job summary

GHD in New Zealand is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to contribute to project delivery from concept to detail design for industrial and renewable power clients across wind, solar, BESS and hydro.

Based in Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington, you will work across energy, water and industrial sectors, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, and prepare design documentation in line with client requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Minimum 5 years’ electrical engineering experience, with 5 to 8 years preferred.
Industrial electrical design experience.
Experience in water, energy or renewable energy projects.
Good working knowledge of industrial electrical supply and distribution, instrumentation, control and automation.
Experience with PowerCAD, PTW, AutoCAD electrical and Powerfactory is preferred.
Experience preparing design documentation, reports and specifications.
Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
Client engagement and stakeholder management capability.
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Project management experience would be advantageous.
Earthing and bonding, substation or transmission line design experience would be advantageous.
Owner’s Engineer experience would be advantageous.
CPEng or actively working towards professional registration is preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver all aspects of projects across feasibility, concept, reference, detailed design, construction, commissioning and post-construction phases.
Manage several projects or assignments concurrently and determine priorities.
Assist senior engineers with business development, client engagement, and building and maintaining relationships with industrial and renewable power clients.
Contribute to projects across energy, renewable energy, water and industrial sectors, with a primary focus on New Zealand and the Pacific region.
Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, with opportunities to support Australian and wider APAC delivery.
Support the preparation of proposals and bids for projects.
Prepare technical reports, design documentation and specifications in line with GHD and client requirements.
