About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our high-performing engineering team in Auckland. This role plays a critical part in delivering electrical and controls solutions for complex process plants, taking responsibility from design through to installation support and commissioning.

You will work closely with project managers, customers, electrical contractors, panel builders, and internal disciplines (process, mechanical, automation) to ensure solutions are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to GEAs quality and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical designs and documentation for process plant projects (e.g., single line diagrams, cable schedules, I/O lists, equipment datasheets)
  • Design and specify MCCs, field I/O panels, motors, VSDs, instrumentation interfaces, and power distribution (LV)
  • Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications for suppliers, subcontractors, and electrical contractors
  • Support tendering and project execution by defining electrical scope, estimating costs, and assisting with procurement
  • Coordinate and review the work of external design resources (e.g., EPLAN/AutoCAD, switchboard/panel builders) to ensure quality and consistency
  • Ensure designs and site activities comply with relevant standards and statutory requirements (e.g., AS/NZS 3000 and applicable IEC standards) and GEA HSE/quality requirements
  • Provide technical support during installation, including site supervision as required, testing, fault-finding, and contractor coordination
  • Participate in commissioning activities (FAT/SAT), support control system integration, and assist with handover documentation
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, calculations, test records, and change/variation support
  • Collaborate closely with automation, installation, and project teams to deliver safe, integrated and maintainable plant outcomes
  • Travel to customer sites (nationwide) as required to support installation, commissioning, and service handover activities.

This role is based in our Mount Wellington (Auckland) office. This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum guaranteed 40 hours per week (typically Monday to Friday). Some additional hours may be required at times to meet project deadlines. Travel to customer sites and/or project locations (nationwide) will be required, depending on project needs.

The base salary is between NZ$125,000 and NZ$145,000 gross per annum, depending on experience. On top of the base salary, the total remuneration package includes medical insurance and overtime payments and may include eligibility to participate in GEA’s global bonus scheme. Allowances are also payable when travel is required. The maximum hours per week before overtime rate applies are 45 hours per week.
