About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy firm, is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer specializing in infrastructure projects. This role, based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, ZA , offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a dynamic blend of on-site client interaction and remote design work. You will be responsible for the electrical design of various infrastructure developments, including power distribution, lighting systems, and substations for commercial, industrial, and public sector clients. We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of electrical principles, experience with design software, and the ability to manage projects from conceptualization to completion. The ideal candidate will be adept at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring designs meet all relevant standards and client requirements. This position offers the chance to contribute to significant infrastructure development projects in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for infrastructure projects, including power distribution networks, substations, and site services.
• Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
• Perform load calculations, power studies, and fault current analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with national electrical codes, standards (e.g., SANS), and regulations.
• Coordinate electrical design elements with other disciplines, such as civil, structural, and mechanical engineering.
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and assist with procurement processes.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather information and verify design compliance during construction.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, responding to RFIs and resolving design issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within infrastructure or consulting.
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other relevant electrical design software.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, low voltage reticulation, and protection schemes.
• Familiarity with South African electrical standards and building codes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
• Experience with projects in or around **Queenstown, Eastern Cape, ZA** is a plus.
